Leather

Iranians are the first and oldest leather producers in the world with a history of three thousand years. Antiquities maintained from BC show that Iranians have been using leather for clothing, shoes, and weapons since about 1500 BC.

Leather is used in various industries such as shoe making, bag making, clothing, furniture making, and binding, and it has a higher price than other products due to its long production. On the other hand, leather products have many fans due to their quality and attractive appearance. There are different types of leather, and they are classified into different categories according to raw materials, tanning method, thickness, application, appearance, etc. In terms of production methods, various types of leather include natural leather and artificial leather.

Leathers are also divided into several categories in terms of their appearance, such as nubuck leather, split leather, suede leather, varnished leather, Ostrich leather, bonded leather, etc. The classification of leathers based on application is as follows:

  • Strong leather: which is prepared from the skin of bull, female cow and buffalo, and is used for shoe soles, belts, etc.
  • Soft leathers: these leathers are made from horse skin, foals, and goat, in tanning of saddle, polishing, and cover making are used.
  • Delicate leather: which is made from the skin of sheep, lamb, goat, and mountain goat, it is used in making gloves, bags, fine shoes, beautiful objects, and book covers.
