Hand Weaving
The history of fabric in Iran according to archeological research shows that weaving is one of the first industrial professions and according to some, it is even older than pottery. A seal from Choghā Mīsh of Khuzestan in Iran, belonging to 3300 BC, was found, which shows a woman in the act of spinning. This role is a testimony to the existence of this profession at the beginning of urbanization.
A variety of valuable hand-woven fabrics is produced in Iran with the function of decoration and installation on the wall or spread on the table, while being a practical product, also has an artistic value. These are zari fabrics, velvet, termeh, canvas, pateh, …, which are produced from silk, cotton, wool, … along with dyeing with natural dyes. More commonly fabrics also are woven, which are suitable for making towels and clothes, and they are designed, dyed and woven by expert workforce, supervised by university professors in scientific processes.
Fabrics are woven and made from various fibers:
– Fibers of plant origin, such as linen, cotton, and hemp.
– Fibers of animal origin, such as silk, wool, hair, and fur.
– Fibers that have a mineral source, such as fireproof cotton and glass fabrics.
– Fibers obtained from chemical synthesis, such as nylon and polyester.

Silk Weaving
Sha’r is a type of very fine and delicate traditional tissue in the ancient textile industry which is locally called Joulaee. Sha’r means fine and delicate hair and Sharbaf is a person who weaves strands of hair or silk.
Karbafi

Felt Making
Felt which is idiomatically unwoven tissue is made by pressure, humidity and heat. Making felt is based on two properties of wool that is curling and flaking off.
